THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING
Seriously, this story has only existed for my own entertainment, so I’m always surprised when people like it.
If you want to see what happens going forward, check out my new comic, Promotion, which follows Melissa and Julian!
And, as promised, now is the optimal time for questions and comments. Go ahead and ask anything, I don’t think I’ll be coy with much. If you want to ask elsewhere, hit me up on tumblr.
If you’re interested in supporting me and my comics and art, my Patreon has several levels, including one for $1/month, and the $5 level gets high-res versions of Promotion.
Thanks again!
[edit] looks like the image didn’t post, but I’ve fixed it.
Wooo! Thank you for a wonderful read. It really grew on me! It’s so nice to see a comic come to a fine conclusion. Hmmm questions…I don’t know…were you inspired by any book series? Do you have book recommendations?
Also: A new comic about Melissa and Julian? HECK YES that is everything I hoped for!!! :D
PF is inspired more by video games and anime than books, but The Eight by Katherine Neville was something I read as a teen that stuck with me, as it’s essentially about a giant chess game. Now that I’m an adult I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s, uh, not super great. I’ll still reread it for nostalgia, though.
I actually get really cagey with book recommendations because I have super high standards for actually endorsing books (much less so with actually reading them, I will read pure trash), but Martha Wells’ books are consistently enjoyable. My favorites of hers are the Fall of Ile-Rien trilogy, and Death of the Necromancer was nominated for a Nebula award.
Thank you so much for reading!
Cool thanks for answering! (I would also take anime suggestions for future reference!)
Random thought: can the ex-queen remarry or is it not permitted?
I don’t watch a lot of anime nowadays, but Noragami was the last thing I saw that I really liked. PF owes a lot to an obscure show called Louie the Rune Soldier, but your mileage may vary on that one (though I love it).
I haven’t given much thought to the dowager queen remarrying, but she’d definitely be required to go through a mourning period (probably a year after the king’s death), and then she’d definitely be permitted to remarry, but I haven’t decided if she’d retain her title. There could potentially be succession issues if she married someone with children, so she’d probably have to relinquish it, but that’s not something she’d personally mind.
